Stay in Moshi or Arusha?
Thinking of a trip this year. I would prefer going on one day safaris to Arusha N.P. Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro and coming back to the hotel since 3-4 days at a stretch might be a bit exhausting. Is it a good idea nor not ?
Would also like to do Serengeti but that’s not possible as a day trip. How many days is enough for the Serengeti-on an average? Would also like to see some Maasai traditional dancing, visit their village and if possible the Hadzabe tribe on Lake Elyasi.
Would it be better to stay in Moshi or Arusha ? Which is closer to the above safari places ? Would like to see Mt. Kilimanjaro but not trek up it.

I have done day trips to Manyara and Tarangire, and Arusha NP is about one hour’s drive from Arusha. You will most probably want to stay in Arusha, that will be closer to the game parks.
Serengeti is too far for a day trip, and Nogrongoro Crater is almost too far, but is doable on a day trip (about a 4 hour drive so you will be in a vehicle a lot on that day).
You can only take 1/2 day descents into the crater but they relax this sometimes. But you can cover the crater in a 1/2 day descent, it’s not all that large.
Doing this in day trips will mean that you will be going over and over the same places quite a bit of the time, but if that’s what you want to do there will be a safari operator who will do this for you.
When it comes to deciding where to stay between Moshi and Arusha, it really depends on your travel plans and preferences. Both towns have their advantages and offer different experiences.
Moshi is a smaller town located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, and it’s a great place to stay if you’re planning to climb Kilimanjaro or go on a safari in the nearby national parks. Moshi is also known for its vibrant local markets and coffee plantations, which make for interesting cultural experiences.
Arusha, on the other hand, is a bigger town and is known as the gateway to several national parks, including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park. Arusha is also known for its great restaurants, nightlife, and cultural experiences such as visiting the Maasai market.
At Msangai Adventure, we offer tours and safaris departing from both Moshi and Arusha. We can help you decide which town is the best option for you based on your travel plans and interests. Contact us for more information and to book your adventure.
